Question What are the benefits of using genuine Honda parts?
My husband and I are having a disagreement about using genuine Honda brake shoes vs. generic ones. I think you get what you pay for and I don't mind spending $40 more to get the best parts. He feels that brake shoes are brake shoes. If he is right, I don't see why we should spend the extra money.

Best Answer Quality would be different between different brands. Even the manufacturer's have different level of quality to their pads/shoe. If you like the genuine Honda shoes then see you find out who makes them and the buy that brand. For example, I know some BMW pads are made by Jurid. Find a store that sells it and it will be a lot cheaper then the dealer. I personality don't like to go cheap on brakes and tires, but I can understand your husband's pov. The rear brakes are not as important as the fronts. And I don't think the quality is that much different with shoes. If he can say that he can get shoes of equal or higher quality for less then why not. Genuine Honda parts is not always the highest quality available.
