The Pontiac GTO
Can you remember when these beasts roamed the streets? I sure can, growing up in the 60's meant watching and waiting for the day when you could get behind the wheel of your own "Goat". Now over 40 years later you can still buy one of these at auction, but get ready to pay the price!
The Pontiac GTO was built by Pontiac, a division of General Motors in the United States from 1964 to 1974, and by GM subsidiary Holden in Australia from 2004 to 2006. It is considered an innovative, and now classic muscle car of the 1960s and 1970s.
From 1964 until midway through 1973 it was closely related to the Pontiac Tempest/LeMans and for the 1974 model year it was based on the Pontiac Ventura. The 21st century GTO is essentially a left-hand drive Holden Monaro, itself a coupe variant of the Holden Commodore.
