Jeep Wrangler Rear Tailgate

Question 2002 Jeep Wrangler installed used factory hard top,what hold rear glass shut?
Top came off a 2003 wrangler (salvage yard).With tailgate closed it opens until it hits spare tire.There is no place for latches.

Best Answer Loosen the back window at the hinges and pull it down as far as you can. Tighten the hinges. The tailgate should keep the back window closed. If you cant get it down low enough, try raising the tailgate at the hinges.

Question Any ideas on why the rear end of my wrangler creaks?
I've got a 2005 Jeep Wrangler with a 2" budget boost and recently the rear end has been making a creaking sound. I thought it was the tailgate, but if I open the gate and try to move the body left and right, the sound is there. It sounds like it's coming from the suspension, so aside from checking to make sure everything is tight, does anyone have any ideas?

Best Answer There are no leaf springs or shackles on a 2005 Wrangler, so don't bother checking those :). After the lift did you loosen and then re-torque the control arms? Lifting the Jeep can put some stress on the rubber bushings in the control arms, particularly the lowers - loosen up the lower control arms (you don't have to take the bolt out all the way) and rock the Jeep a little, then re-torque them to 130 ft/lb.
