Question 05 Mustang GT exhaust setup questions...?
Warning in advance: I talk a lot in Mustang questions because this car is seriously like 98 percent of what I think about... :'D Its a passion! Hi guys, I'm buying an 05/06 automatic (because no one ever taught me stick shift and I don't have a sticky to learn on... >.>) GT in a few months (more likely an 05, there's something about sonic blue I like a tad better than vista.. its more purpley at certain angles XD), and as I've been narrowing down prospect cars to buy, I've also been laying out what I want to add to the car over the years. A big thing for me, and therefore a priority in the order of modifications (because I adore the way cars sound) is the exhaust. I'm looking to replace the stock mufflers with Corsa axle backs first (bit expensive but I like them best after the Cervini/Magnaflow side exhaust.. too cool for school/me ;] ) Then, a Corsa X/crossover pipe. Thirdly and lastly, I'm looking at Ford Racing GT shorty headers. My questions concerning the exhaust setup are 1. It doesn't eliminate the catalytic converters, does it? I'm not up for breaking any laws XD and 2. Will that setup even work (fit together with the other components without cutting or welding/function properly)? I'm a car novice when it comes to the more complicated technical things and I'm uncertain about whether or not mixing brands works >_> I've seen other people do it (37493 different brands in one system), but I figured I'd look before I leap, just in case. FIN. **You don't have to read any more past that to answer the question, but just for kicks, if anyone would like to give their opinion on what my dream Mustang will eventually (years and years from now, should I/the car live that long.. : | ) be like: 05/06 Sonic/Vista blue automatic GT Silver metallic Shelby stripes w/ 2 matching pinstripes(speaking of the Shelby stripes, anyone know how wide and spaced the GT500 stripes are? When that car came out I was like "O_O THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING OF -visualization realized-") -Aforementioned exhaust setup -Roush suspension kit -Roush high perf. brake kit -Roush wheels/tires -Kenne Bell Stage 1 supercharger kit -DiabloSport Predator tune.. by a professional, obviously, as I'm useless.. :D -Painted quarter window louvers -Rear window louver -CDC agg. chin spoiler -Seq. tails -Paint matched mirror covers -SHR billet fuel door -Chrome tail trims :] -excited even though all that is really, really really far away-
Best Answer No it wont eliminate your cats.Yes you can mix brands but be smart about the parts you mix.You may need to have something welded. It may be cheaper to have some of your exhaust welded instead of having all bolt up stuff.Heck by the end of doing all that stuff you wanna do you could probably afford a nice Roush especially if you pay somebody to do that stuff, lol. Johnny how dare you use my name and speak of 20's on a Mustang. You fail!
