Question What is the difference between the 327 and the 427 engine inside the old 1968 Corvettes?
What are each's HP and Torque? And if I were to buy a old 1968 Corvette 327 what parts would I be able to replace to gain better performance? Also, is there a supercharger kit for a 1968 Corvette?

Best Answer The 327 and 427 in early Corvettes were completely different engines. The 327 was a small block engine which can trace its history back to Chevrolet's first V-8 engine from 1955, while the 427 engine was a "Big Block" engine that actually started life as a NASCAR racing motor back in 1963. There are no interchangeable parts between these two engines. If you want specific details, there are dozens of web sites available where you can find that information. I'm not going to waste my time doing research that you can do on your own with just a few keystrokes.

Question What year did the first STINGRAY corvette come out on market?
I am doing a report on corvettes for school and i need to fing out what year the stringray first came out. Thanks for any help.

Best Answer The Stingray corvette was introduced to the market in 1963 and was taken off the market in 1967. It was part of the second generation of corvettes and was designed by Larry Shinoda. The car itself had a distinctive split in the back window and had fake hood vents. Along with that it came with an indepednet rear suspention.The split rear window was discontinued in 1964 due to safety concerns. Eventually the hood vents were deemed to busy for the design and were taken out. :)

Question How can I make a 1984 305 engine high performance?
I have a 4 barrel carburetor, I have headers, dual exhaust, auto transmission out of a Berlinetta. Also have an electric fuel pump. I'm putting engine, rear end and transmission in a 1964 Chevy P/U out of the 1984 Berlinetta. What else can I do to make this high performance?

Best Answer The money you'd spend trying to make a truly high performance engine out of that 305, you could buy a 350. The 350 would be a simple bolt in job and you'd then be way ahead of the curve on power over the 305. After that, with the aftermarket part availability for the ever popular 350, the sky is the limit on what you can do. %&*#, if you're willing to drop the dough, I've seen 350s in daily drivers putting out over 500 horses at the rear wheels. I've even built a couple of trucks with 350s that had to have tractor weights under the rear for weight to create traction just so you could keep it on the road on a hard pull off the line.

Question How can i get my parents to buy an old car.?
I have been trying to get my parents to approve of me getting a older car not just a few years but a 1964 Chevy impala they agree it would be a nice car but don't believe i could ever find one for less then 10 grand that's not just being sold for parts. These are stock chrome wheels on a Pontiac minivan.

Best Answer I use Mothers PowerBall and the Chrome polish. You can get it at WalMart and just attach it to a hand drill. Works very well.

Question Is it safe to roll into Houston on stock wheels for the weekend?
I felt a little out of place last time I was there! It seemed as if I was the only one that wasn't rolling around real slow on monster chrome wheels!

Best Answer Texas is home and birth place of slabs. (slow low and bangin custon cars with candy paint jobs) you may not fit in but you wont get mugged if you are all stock. i wouldnt buy some chrome 24's just to roll into houston for the weekend. now if you were going to live near houston, dallas or killeen then i would go to a rim shop. and prob by a woodgrain wheel too. if you were going to live near el paso or san antonio i would go to a rim shop, get a woodgrain wheel and add some hydraulics too. but if its just a visit dont worry about it. not like they will remember you anyway

Question Question about 1957 Ford Thunderbird?
Okay, I have a 57 T-Bird that I inherited from my Uncle. I'm not real big on the body of it, but it has a nice running engine and transmission. I was wondering what other cars it would fit in? Well i think it is pretty rare to find and they made a movie on it called Christine. If you look at christine the car from the stephen king movie; it is really a killer.

Best Answer The '58 Fury is an awesome car, but they're pretty rare, expensive and it's extremely hard to find parts for them. If you really want one, look into the 1957-58 Plymouth Belvedere. Just about every one of Plymouth's models from 1957-58 looked exactly the same except for a different roofline. Belevederes are a lot cheaper than your average Fury, and unlike the Fury, they actually made them in red. If you want to see a car that really looks like a killer, look up the '59 Dodge Coronet.
